How Easy Streaming BIM Software helps Backe Achieve Ambitious Digital Strategy
“At Backe, we have a very ambitious digital strategy. We want to implement software that is user-friendly and can be used on site to capture building information and gain experience to further our development. After testing various types of software we concluded that StreamBIM is the most versatile and user-friendly BIM collaboration software on the market. Open BIM is the heart of StreamBIM. The software makes 3D BIM models and digital drawings available in a single user interface that’s designed for handheld devices, and it’s super easy to include any users who work on the construction site.
“As part of our digitalisation strategy we had a multiple requirements for our software. It must be user-friendly, functional, and increase our productivity; it must adhere to our data security policy; and service should be outstanding because we are looking for partners, not just suppliers. By February 2018, we had used StreamBIM on more than 60 Backe projects.
“We use StreamBIM for interaction in the design phase, for follow-up during the production phase, and when we do handover to the building owners. StreamBIM provides a full overview of all the events within our projects, ranging from design clarifications to production errors. StreamBIM is an excellent visualization tool that is very useful for those working on construction sites. The tool gives quick access to federated 3D models from all disciplines. It is super quick to compile a model and to process and publish updates in the BIM model, and it’s accessible on desktops, BIM kiosks, smartphones, and tablets. Everyone gets a better understanding of complex construction projects by combining a 3D BIM model containing all disciplines with the 2D drawings.
“We started out with a project some months ago, and not everyone was happy to test out new software. Now, almost everyone wants to get StreamBIM, because they feel it helps them work more efficiently. StreamBIM software is a useful and important because it has made BIM easy for our employees and partners to understand. Our future plan is to connect all our digital processes together to build a digital construction process from A to Z that supports our overall strategy. Our experienced shows that this effort also provides benefits to our partners.”
