Our first year exhibiting with our own booth at BIM World Copenhagen was a total blast!
Scandinavia’s leading event for digitalization in the building industry brought together people of many nationalities, generations and backgrounds. We had conversations with everyone from students to major construction companies and public-sector organizations from across Europe.
The best part? Seeing people’s eyes light up when we showed them what is possible with StreamBIM and our TotalBIM approach — where the model becomes the single source of truth.
We bring some discussions back to the table that many of the industry’s biggest players seem to have left behind, even though they go to the very heart of BIM:
Who owns the data? What do you actually build from: model or drawings? Where does project communication happen, and is it traceable? Who has access to what? What is contractually binding — the live model or static file packages containing a “frozen” snapshot of the project?
Many visitors came to us asking how we respond to the growing demand for greater data sovereignty. Our answer is unequivocal: openBIM, open APIs, flexible hosting and on-premises solutions.
That control also extends to how information is managed throughout the project: strong governance, access control and traceability help teams understand who can access what, what has changed and when.
And openness goes beyond data access: StreamBIM also supports custom widgets, allowing customers and partners to build their own functionality directly into the platform.
Combined, these capabilities are proving to be a game changer for customers who want greater control over both their data and their digital infrastructure.
We would also like to use this opportunity to give a shout-out to Byggstyrning for their astonishing Lumi project in Uppsala, which was presented on the first day of the event. Their presentation made the connection between TotalBIM, sustainability and project economics very tangible.
Lumi was delivered drawing-free, with the BIM model serving as the sole construction documentation — proof that TotalBIM is not some futuristic concept. Byggstyrning has been delivering projects this way since 2017.
The result? LEED Platinum with 99 out of 110 points — the highest-scoring project in Europe and the highest-scoring office building worldwide.
TotalBIM is not being driven in spite of demanding clients, but because of them: increasingly, owners are making structured digital delivery and usable project data part of the contractual requirements.
StreamBIM enables the same enriched, structured and traceable project data to flow directly into operations, preserving the project history from design through construction and making an operations-ready digital twin available as soon as construction is complete.
At the same time, we can operate fully in 2D.
Not every company needs — or wants — to jump straight into TotalBIM. Adoption only works when the technology fits the people and the way they work. We can support our customers at their own pace, across different roles and levels of BIM maturity, and help them evolve from 2D or hybrid workflows towards TotalBIM when and if it makes sense for them.
For us, one of the most rewarding parts of BIM World Copenhagen was showing both established industry players and the younger generation that it is possible to be more digital, more efficient and truly work from a model-based single source of truth — while helping save time and reduce costs.
